O'ralia wrote:I think this is appalling. How can you suddenly blame people's hardware when this is clearly an issue from a small patch that was supposed to fix small graphical problems etc. the simple fact is before your patch on the 4th of Feb these supposedly out dated machines were still running the eve client perfectly well.
How do you intend to compensate mac users?
Disgraceful
Calm down, it happens. Especially when we're not the exactly the target audience. And we're lucky CCP is taking a serious interest in this. |

CCP Snorlax wrote:We have not had any luck in reproing this, but we have a patch going out tomorrow where we have at least an attempted fix.
I've gone through all changes to the graphics engine that went out in the patch that seems to have triggered the black screen on character select, and we're basically reverting those changes when running on a Mac. We're grasping at straws here, but I feel we have to try something.
It really shouldn't but if it does come to it I have a couple macs that are both having the same issue, I'll mail one out to CCP so you all can see the issue or anything else like screen sharing ect. :P until then I'll just log in on my iMac at work until this is all panned out.
THANK YOU FOR WORKING ON THIS Snorlax! |

I snagged the system log files during the crash, they seem pretty similar to the other log files that have been posted:
2/12/14 11:48:35.000 AM kernel[0]: NVDA(OpenGL): Channel exception! exception type = 0x6 = Fifo: Parse Error 2/12/14 11:48:35.000 AM kernel[0]: IOVendorGLContext::ReportGPURestart 2/12/14 11:48:36.000 AM kernel[0]: NVDA(OpenGL): Channel exception! exception type = 0xd = GR: SW Notify Error 2/12/14 11:48:36.000 AM kernel[0]: NVDA(OpenGL): Channel exception! exception type = 0xd = GR: SW Notify Error 2/12/14 11:48:37.000 AM kernel[0]: NVDA(OpenGL): Channel exception! exception type = 0xd = GR: SW Notify Error 2/12/14 11:48:37.000 AM kernel[0]: NVDA(OpenGL): Channel exception! exception type = 0xd = GR: SW Notify Error 2/12/14 11:48:37.000 AM kernel[0]: NVDA(OpenGL): Channel exception! exception type = 0xd = GR: SW Notify Error
After this failure I was forced to hardboot, cmd+option+shift+esc couldn't recover, as well as cmd+option+esc.
I'll search the web to see if there's any kind of update or patch for OpenGL on our graphics card. It's hitting a parse error which shouldn't be too hard to fix some data is not being handled correctly so yeah maybe there's an update we're all missing for some reason. |
